There’s a kind of noise that doesn’t just fill the room — it fills the body.
You know the one.
It doesn’t shout.
It scrolls.
It lingers.
It floods your inbox, sneaks into meetings, hums behind your thoughts when you’re trying to focus.
It’s the noise of uncertainty.
And for women in leadership — especially those holding space for teams, families, visions, and futures — this noise doesn’t just distract.
It derails.
It interrupts clarity.
It questions confidence.
It distances us from our own knowing.
Lately, I’ve been sitting with the difference between noise that’s annoying… and noise that’s existential.
Because not all noise is the same.
The noise of uncertainty asks questions like:
“Am I safe here?”
“Will this change everything?”
“Is it my responsibility to fix this?”
“What if I’m not doing enough?”
This kind of noise is different because it doesn’t just challenge your day — it challenges your identity.
And when uncertainty feels constant — when the headlines don’t stop, when jobs are unstable, when leadership feels reactive instead of visionary — it’s tempting to tighten your grip or fall into silence. Either way, you lose access to your clarity.
And that’s what I want to talk about this week.
Because I’ve lived through that kind of noise.
Not just in business. In my body.
Living with sickle cell has taught me what most people avoid: that control is an illusion, but clarity is a decision.
When I lost vision in one eye, I didn’t lose my ability to see — I gained the ability to lead from something deeper.
So now, when things get loud?
When the future gets foggy?
I don’t ask “What’s happening next?”
I ask: “What’s mine to hear?”
That’s the heart of what I’ll be teaching this Saturday.
But before then, I want to offer a simple insight that’s been changing how I think about all of this:
The noise of uncertainty is different.
Not because it’s louder.
But because it feels personal — it questions your safety, your timing, your worth.
Where most noise distracts you from your work…
Uncertainty tries to disconnect you from yourself.
And that’s why discerning what kind of noise you’re hearing — and what kind of leadership it calls for — is a skill every woman in leadership needs right now.
That’s the work we’ll do together this weekend.
For now, just notice:
What kind of noise is calling your attention today?
